Hi, I posted this over on the begining gardening board but haven't had much input so i though I would try it here
I have cut the sod away in an area next to my pool and I wanted to plant Eastern Purple Coneflower (Echinacea purpurea 'Magnus') and possibly one or to other things in the area. I have attached a photo of the area.
In this picture I tried to kind of generaly draw the areas where I want different plants. We are trying to make this a very showy area next to the pool so I need something that will be colorful for most of the swimming season. I'm in zone 6
So I was thinking of puting coneflower in areas marked "A" but I think it may be to tall. I would like for this area to be about 30 inches tall.
What I need is something smaller around 18 inches or so that would look good in areas marked "B" and some smaller maybe 10-12 inches tall, type something for areas marked C. I would like something that will grow out over the edge of the concrete.
Any suggestions for areas A, B, and C would be appreciated. I am willing to put more than one type of plant in each area but I thought it would look best if I just stuck to one in each? In the end we want the area to be full and super colorful all summer. Is that too much to ask :-)
Also, FWIW, the Nandina that can be seen at the far end of the area has been moved so this area actually extends all the way to the fence.
