Another I received from a swap, growing in part sun in a raised bed. The little purple flowers in the picture do not belong to this plant, they are the larkspur behind it.

Had trouble again attaching the pic... will try again in a sec...

trying again... this is so frustrating... every time I click "Preview" or "Send" it blanks out the Image box...

Hey Catgal,

Maybe try saving the picture to a new file on your computer, then try posting it again.
This might make it easier for your computer to send info, if your files are loaded.

Here are a few more... no flowers yet. The leaves at the base of the plant are quite a bit bigger than the leaves at the top.

It reminds me of a hybrid Aster or Symphiotrichum. They do seemingly pop up out of nowhere about now.

New England Aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae), or one of its many cultivars.

I agree, definitely some sort of Symphyotrichum... there are SOOO many! I guess it will help to see it bloom. I will close this for now, figure out more details after seeing the flowers. Thanks!!
