A fun day- take your sturdy kids for a hike up to the Falls on the rougher (steep first stretch, then not that rough, and easy to follow)trail, and even climb above the falls and explore the creek. Take a snack or lunch up to the falls with you, then return to the lake by the easy trail, and go swimming. Snack bar available. After the park, you may want to stop in the town of Thurmont (close by) for a fast food dinner before heading home.
I did this with three teens last summer and had a great time!
