I look forward to my first visit to Ebert's in the spring at least as much as my kids look forward to Christmas. Ebert's is an enormous family run operation, and they have more perennials and annuals than any nursery in our area, including the chain Stein's Garden Center. While their plants tend to be a bit more expensive, I've found that they're worth it. On the whole, they tend to be very healthy and robust. You'll notice the difference between buying at Ebert's and buying at Kmart!

One word of warning--in years past Ebert's has seemed to run out of vegetable plants very quickly. If you're looking for tomatoes and peppers and the like...go early. Also, don't forget to harden off any greenhouse-grown plants before sticking them in the ground.

This center has the best and greatest variety of plant life that I have ever seen at any other nursery in the area that I live. I actually travel half an hour, several times during the growing season, to purchase my annuals, perennials and even outdoor decorations at Eberts. I purchase one of their HUGE baskets every April and receive numerous compliments on its size and beauty. I also just went there in mid July to see if I could get some more perennials on sale and their plants look just as good as they did in April...unlike ALL the other centers I went to recently. Give them a try...you won't be dissappointed. They love what they do and it shows in their plants.
