Weeki Wachee Spring park is most famous for the "mermaids" who perform in the 150 foot deep natural spring that is the headwater for the Weeki Wachee river. The park offers walking paths through the natural river side setting as well as boat rides on the river itself. One can see many examples of Flora and Fauna on and along the river. Slated to become a state park in 2008, The park will be assured of continued and improved operations. It has been here since 1947 and was the first attratction we visited when we were vacationers in Florida long ago.
