I took my kids to The Elegant Farmer this fall for apple picking. While it's a bit more pricey and commercial than mom and pop orchards, the orchard is extremely well mapped out and each tree is marked with a ribbon to indicate the type of apple growing there. You're also invited to sample the apples before buying.

Other fun fall events include a hayride and pumpkin patch.

The store offers a great variety of products from cheeses to jams to fresh meats to The Elegant Farmer's apple pie baked in a paper bag. (We found the pie a little too sweet for our tastes.)

During the spring/summer The Elegant Farmer opens a garden center. I haven't been to the garden center myself but intend to check it out this year.
