It is a very, very pretty nursery, with lots of healthy plants, and garden doodads. I think the prices are generally competitive, with some items being ridiculously high and some others being quite the bargain. Interesting that somebody commented on the small rose sizes. I was interested in a small Buck rose (the price was good) but it was struggling. When I offered a lower price, you would have thought I had uttered the vilest of profanities. I found that very, very snobbish. On another occasion I asked for a plant by its botanical name; a worker immediately corrected me by using the common name!

I don't give it a perfect score because of the rather arrogant staff.

Gorgeous big nursery with a wonderful variety of plants and garden art. The staff are very helpful. I also like their soil soup.

The only drawback for me is that the plants, art, and pots are a bit overpriced. The only exception would be roses. They offer them in smaller pots which are often half the price of roses sold elsewhere.

They have a nice selection of roses too which sets them apart from other nearby nurseries.

I have called Buchanan's (in advance) on many occasions to hold items for me, as I usually run across town on my lunch hour. They are MORE than accommodating and have my items waiting at the checkout counter every time. Buchanan's also offers a "frequent shopper" discount card good for savings each time you make a purchase.

Buchanan's is one of the few places in Houston that carries the required Dolomite lime for Earthboxes! It comes in a convenient 5lb. bucket at a great price, too. They also have a good selection of pesticides & fertilizers, located in a delightful little cottage house, where you can browse at your leisure.

Their customer service ethic, helpful staff, and the shere whimsical beauty of the grounds, makes a trip to Buchanan's worth your time. Stop by and see if it not's true. You'll go back time and again!

I practically live accross the street from Buchanons, and naturally this has become my number one nursery destination. Buchanons has recently expanded and has cleverly created pleasant pathways that take you through the various selection of plants. Decorative trellises and arches blend into the experience, and before you realize it, your back where you started. Plant prices for the most part are competative, other items may have price tags that have one requesting a lay away which they seem happy to do.
